How to teach alphabets to preschoolers in a fun way? The first milestone in the literacy area is to recognize and learn the alphabet. There are various ways that I implement with my little one to making learning fun. Among them, The favorite one for me and my kids, which works well, is the alphabet puzzle. Alphabets Puzzle is one of the exciting ways to make the journey of learning fun for your child. Teaching the alphabet is one of the very tactical jobs for parents or teachers. At the age of 2 years, children are ready to recognize the alphabet. But the milestone is different for each child. Playing with puzzles is the perfect indoor activity to keep your kids engaged during a pandemic.
Learn To Recognize
Preschoolers learn to recognize/identify alphabets by:
- Reading.
- Kids love scanning the storybooks.
- Learning videos.
- Rhymes.
- Boards.

Fun Ways To Introduce Alphabets
Reading
No matter their age, parents should always read with their little ones. I used to read to my child when she was hardly six months old. They love to explore things. Let them turn the pages on their own. Children are great observers. When they see a book, they love recognizing and identifying the words and letters written in the book. Parents should start with elementary ones.
Gradual Going With Alphabets
With kids, parents and teachers have to be slow and gentle. Kids love to learn with a gentle approach. We should teach kids one alphabet at a time. First, introduce the alphabet, then go for its phonic sound. Try to make learning fun by engaging videos and rhymes related to the alphabet.
Love And Bond Is The Key
Little ones understand the language of love. You can mold the kids’ upside down with the magic of love. The same applies to teaching the alphabet. Making proper communication with kids leads to developing the bond. Once we as a tutor have accurate tuning with our kids, we can gradually go for alphabets and their phonic sounds.

I am a great fan of alphabet puzzles to get through the alphabet with my child. This is the way my child explore alphabets using alphabet puzzle:
Knowing About The Pieces
First and foremost, as soon as I take the bag of puzzle out. My kid loves to see and understand the mystery. She loves the bundle of pieces in which the letters are embedded. She tries to have fun putting them upside down and from left to right and vice-versa.
Close Observation
Gradually, Once she is done messing up with all the parts of the puzzle. She slowly tries to observe each part of the puzzle closely. This helps in building the focus and concentration in your child. She selects some of her favorite pieces out. Then starts to make our phonic sounds of all the alphabets sorted out by her. I love it when she tries to do phonics and read around the word out.
Sorting And Sequencing
After the close observation, my child sorts out some of the pieces. She starts to recall the sequence she knows with an alphabet song or maybe an alphabet rhymes. Once she is thorough with the series, she tries to find out the particular puzzle piece to form a sequence. She calls out loudly the alphabet name with the phonic sound. And I amaze she finds it in a fraction of minutes without even my help.
Hand-Eye Coordination
This alphabet puzzle helps in building hand-eye coordination. One child is thorough with the sorting. She then is very much into arranging the piece. I love the way she then using her skills, and put the pieces entirely one after the other.
The Final touch up
Finally, My kiddo develops the parts of the puzzle differently. She makes it in pieces as it is a big collection of 26 letters. This way, it is straightforward and easy for them. They try to recollect all the puzzle parts join by them. Again by recalling their sequencing technique, they try to arrange the alphabet puzzle in proper order.
This is the fun way I usually prefer with my kids. This way of teaching the alphabet is engaging and entertaining for my kids. It is a fascinating task that disappears boredom.
